Position Summary:  Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, and along with the Medical Director and Director of Nursing, the Nurse Manager is a Registered Nurse who performs weekly checks of supplies/logs and ensures policy and procedures are followed at their specific clinic.  The Nurse Manager will ensure coverage of shifts for Health History Nurse and Sonography as set by the seasonal schedule.

Qualifications:

  1. Holds a current license in good standing with the Texas Board of Registered Nurses (BORN) and maintains continuing education requirements as set forth by the BORN.
  2. Maintains current CPR certification
  3. Demonstrates competent knowledge of the care of obstetrical and gynecological clients and women’s health issues.
  4. Agrees with the Metroplex Women’s Clinic’s Statement of Principle, Mission and Faith; Philosophies of Ministry and Service.
  5. Is dependable, stable and capable of following through on commitments.
  6. Expresses a sincere desire to reach out to women in crisis pregnancy situations, especially those who are abortion-minded and abortion-vulnerable.
  7. Maintains a consistent life-affirming philosophy.
  8. Must complete the Metroplex Women’s Clinic’s Client Coordinator, Health History Nurse and Limited Ultrasound training.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provides nursing care that assesses the client’s needs and makes nursing judgments that reflect safe nursing practices.
  2. Maintains complete and accurate client records in confidentiality.
  3. Reviews client’s medical history, focusing on OB/GYN history, use of prescription medications, drugs/alcohol/tobacco abuse, assesses client for physical, emotional, sexual abuse and reports to proper authorities when appropriate.
  4. Provides health education to client and family when appropriate on abstinence, STI’s, abortion procedures and risks, adoption, pregnancy: normal and abnormal symptoms, fetal growth and development, proper nutrition, pre-natal care and the importance of physician evaluation and follow-up.
  5. Performs urine pregnancy tests; collects and orders urine STI tests when necessary.
  6. Refers clients to physicians and/or other agencies as indicated.
  7. Accurately documents client’s visit on all client records and enters data into computer, when necessary. Does phone consulting when appropriate, documents information in Ekyros.
  8. Assists other Health Care Providers, Client Coordinators and staff as needed.
  9. Assists in training new Health History Nurses
  10. Manages the center’s schedule to maintain proper coverage of each scheduled shift. The Director of Nursing and Nurse Manager will communicate when personnel are requesting time off to ensure proper coverage.
  11. Maintain STI log for outgoing tests, check off when we receive results and notify clients and/or Tarrant County Health Department.
  12. Maintain weekly supply log and notify the Director of Nursing when supplies are needed.
  13. Ensures weekly checks of high-level disinfectant, dating and labeling when to change according to policy.
  14. Attend weekly meetings with Director of Nursing and/or CEO.

Public Relations:

  1. Promotes the Metroplex Women’s Clinic in the community.
  2. Maintains professional working relationship with community OB/GYN physicians, their nursing personnel and other community resources.

Personal Development:

  1. Attends continuing education programs that enhance nursing knowledge and skills relating to obstetrical and gynecological care, and women’s health issues.
  2. Maintains professional licensure and CPR certification.
  3. Attends staff meetings and in-services.
